City gov't allows resumption of flights

ILOILO CITY, Oct. 21 (PIA) - The Iloilo City Government will allow flights to and from Iloilo, without limitations on the number of passengers and flights, as long as passengers shall comply with the requirements of the National Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

In his letter to Acting Airport Manager of the Iloilo International Airport Manuela Palma, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Trenas said that upon recommendations of the Iloilo City COVID Team, the city government here has resolved to allow travel of all persons to and from Iloilo City, subject to the imposed health protocols here.

"There will no longer be any restrictions as to passenger capacity per airline nor limitations to the offer of flight accommodations," he said.

He added that the relatives or public transportations shall also be allowed to pick the returning residents at the airport.

Meanwhile, Trenas also clarified that these flights are only for locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and authorized persons outside residence (APORs), as the city is not yet open for tourism and non-essential travels.

Aviation sectors in public transportation for the carriage of passengers, shall comply with specific guidelines, including proper coordination with the Iloilo City Emergency Operations Center (IC-EOC) for relevant travel information, such as date and time of travel/flight and itinerary.

Likewise, airlines shall submit passenger manifest to IC-EOC, containing the complete list of passengers for every trip.

Trenas said allowing the resumption of flights shall be effective on October 19, 2020. (JSC/LTP/PIA6 Iloilo)
